Nokia World 2013 highlightsNokia had their new product unveiling in Abu Dhabi today (22nd October). Below are some of the Nokia World 2013 highlights and takeaways.

As I predicted yesterday, one of the highlights was the unveiling of the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet. I must say, the technical specs for this new light yet supersized handset are very impressive. Despite being slim (8.3mm) and light it sports a 6 inch 1080p HD display, 20 megapixel PureView camera with Carl Zeiss optics and quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. This makes it the first quad-core handset Nokia have ever produced. It also comes with an impressive 32GB of onboard memory which is also expandable. Continue reading

iOS 7.0.3 update on its way to fix all our problems?

iOS 7.0.3 updateIt looks like Apples much anticipated iOS 7.0.3 update will be rolled out this week. Rumor has it that iOS 7.0.3 is currently being put through its final tests by employees and Apple partners before being released. Let all of us Apple users hope that this round of testing is far more thorough than the tests that iOS7, iOS 7.0.1 and iOS 7.0.2 were put through before being released riddled with bugs. USA smartphone user figures soar – time to get cell phone recycling!

cell phone recyclingNew figures released by the Pew Research Center show that for the first time ever, over half of American adults now own a smartphone. 56% to be precise, that’s a 10% increase on the same survey last year and 21% more than in 2011! With the numbers continually increasing, it means that now more than ever, cell phone recycling is becoming more and more important in the quest to help the environment and save our Earths resources.

The survey was taken with 2252 adults and confirmed many long held theories in regards to cell phone, and smartphone in particular, usage. For example, 6% more men than women own a smartphone and 81% in the younger 25-35 age group now own a smart handset. The lowest age group ownership was, as you might expect, the 65+ group with 18%.
